is the second
largest state in

Although the word
“perak” when literally
translated is “silver”, the
name of the state itself is
intended tomean “the abode
of grace”.
STATE OVERVIEW
History states that in the
19th century, large numbers
of miners fromChina
migrated to Perak on
hearing of the state’s rich tin
deposits. Lembah Kinta was
an area in Perak renowned
for tin-mining. Back in the
50s, during the British
colonial era, the sleepy state
of Perak reached its peak,

mining industry. Today,

agriculture have overtaken to become the
major contributors of the state’s economy.

Gua Tempurung –
largest limestone caves in Peninsular Malaysia; made up of five

South of Ipoh, the temple is an impressive work of art with
various statues of Buddha set among nature’s stalactite and stalagmite formations.

130-million year old Royal Belum Rainforest is a literal playground for some of the most

Sungai Kampar has 22 different rapids ranging from Grade 2
to Grade 3. Feel the thrill of tackling large rapids or simply enjoy the serene beauty of

This special event takes place in the
month of May in the royal town of Kuala Kangsar. Unlike other races, this run is unique

Kuala Kangsar is the royal town of Perak. It is known as one of
the most attractive of the Malay royal capitals and is where the
Sultan of Perak officially resides. Kuala Kangsar is also where the
first rubber tree was planted in Malaysia by English botanist
Henry Nicholas Ridley. An iconic landmark is the Malay College
Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) dubbed the “Eton of the East”, an all-
boys, all-Malay boarding school under the royal patronage. The
